About the author

She writes the places most people drive past.

Kaylin Renea is the pen name of Angela Kay Smith, the author behind the Holler & Hellfire Universe. She writes Appalachian Gothic: fallen angels in work boots, witches who keep the coffee hot on Route 119, and family secrets that run deeper than the coal seams under Pike County, Kentucky.

Her stories start in ordinary places. An herbalist's east fence. A diner where the waitress never lets anyone leave cold. A cottage on the south ridge that a Calhoun woman built and then kept empty for thirty-seven years, waiting. The magic in her books is old and practical, the kind handed from grandmother to granddaughter along with a recipe card and a warning.

Under all the hellfire, every book is about one thing: a relationship built on trust and belief. Her heroines are stubborn, funny, and tired of carrying the weight alone. Her Watchers are ancient and wounded, and they learn the hard way that staying takes more courage than watching.

Holler & Hellfire is planned as a 39-novel series told across seven arcs, with companion soundtracks from Holler & Hellfire Records and a streaming series in pre-development. Kaylin builds the universe with Brian Lee Webb through their independent company, WEBBS Entrepreneurship.
